Website of Dan J. O'Boy, Structural Dynamics, Vibration and Acoustic Engineer
I am a Senior Lecturer in Structural Dynamics as a member of the Department of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering, Loughborough University. A link to these departments can be found below with a comprehensive list of the skills, projects and industrial links available.
Current open PhD proposals can be found or contact me to discuss particular interests.
This provides details of work carried out in problems of structural dynamics, vibrations and structure-borne acoustic propagation. You will find information on industrial problems and current collaborations. Many of these are not specific to one industrial sector and the technical work can be transposed.
Examples include tyre vibration and dynamic behaviour, including real time prediction of off-road tractive performance or tyre cavity noise, Noise Vibration and Harshness (NVH) variability, turbocharger surge noise, gas turbine engine acoustic liner design and acoustic meta-materials. Recent projects include real time simulation of electric motors at NVH frequencies of interest, for use with driver in the loop simulators.
In some of the topics, journal publications are available, with a full journal and conference list provided, or you can find promotional posters.
If you would like to know more or you have an industrial problem you wish to discuss, please contact me by email or phone.
